To all prospective Noonan Elementary Academy families,
I would like to personally thank you for considering our Academy for your child’s education. If you haven’t had the opportunity of having a personal tour, please contact us so that we can show you the wonderful experience your child will have at our Academy.
It is hard for me to believe that I am starting my seventh year as the administrator at Noonan’s. The 2011-2012 school year will be the 12th year for Mrs. Noonan’s Florida Academy. Our sister school in Mokena, IL is beginning its 17th year. Our school is modeled after that Academy, and therefore meets State of Illinois academic requirements.
We are a Christian-based school and we offer either Catholic religion classes or Character Education classes daily. Our students say a prayer each morning and grace before lunch. We have children of many faiths and ethnic backgrounds in our classrooms.
· K, 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th grade students take the Stanford 10 national norm test. Our scores are routinely above the national average.
· Many of Eighth grade graduates receive Bishop Verot scholarships or are placed in accelerated classes at public high schools.
Community service is an important part of our school culture. Annual events include a Food Drive each November, a Toy Drive each December, the Muscular Dystrophy Hop-a-thon, and the National Heart Association Jump Rope for Heart. Several of our classrooms also adopt additional charities or organizations.
· Our Sports Program develops not only athletic abilities in our children; it develops character as well. We have been awarded numerous Christian Character Awards for our students’ character on the playing fields.
· Our PTA is a fund raising PTA that assists the school with needs that there just never is enough money for. They have purchased SmartBoards for each grade level classroom.
Our teachers are dedicated professionals who firmly believe that each child should have the opportunity to reach his/her potential. We are accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools and the Florida Kindergarten Council. Only two other schools in Lee County have this accreditation; Canterbury and Fort Myers Christian.
Please read through the enclosed information and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions.
Respectfully,
Nancy Sain, Principal
