About Us

Noonan Academy was established in 1999 to meet the needs of the Fort Myers community. We now have 147 students in Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8 and a dedicated staff of 19.

Noonan Academy is a community of students, teachers, and administrators whose focus is on building foundations for success – in literacy, mathematics, writing, music, art, physical education, and technology. We strive to foster each child's cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development.

We are a Christian-based school and we offer either Catholic Religion classes or Character Education classes daily.  Our students say a prayer each morning and grace before lunch.  We have children of many faiths and ethnic backgrounds in our classrooms.

Our philosophy is that every child is a gift.  We believe that a child’s lifelong attitude toward learning can be attained if the proper methods are used.  Mastery of academic knowledge will be combined with strong character development to insure a well-rounded individual.  Parental input and interaction is vital for the formation of the child.

Our Commitment

At the Noonan Academy, we have identified the following core values to be characteristics of our school community and reflective of our commitment as professional educators.

We commit to:

  • Provide an academic program that is well-balanced and so rich that every child will find the intellectual nourishment he or she needs to reach their full potential.
  • Provide quality before and after school care to support working parents in every way we can.
  • Instill in each child a love for learning.

Mission Statement

The Noonan Academy strives “To Guide, To Educate, and To Form” each student.  The teachers are committed to contributing to each child’s intellectual and social maturity.  A student’s heart and aesthetic faculties need to be educated, with a love for authentic values, with a sense of what is good, right, noble, just and beautiful.  Every subject must contribute to this enrichment of the person in addition to the retention of facts and figures.  The Academy education goes beyond knowledge to the admiration of what is true, good and beautiful.  It is also essential that truths and values be put into action.  To reach maturity the student must have sufficient self-mastery to form character.  The student will acquire a sense of responsibility, the ability to give oneself to others in service, integrity in word and deed, and perseverance in difficult tasks.

To Guide: Teachers impart truth, the students study, analyze and build upon those truths.  The Academy believes that truth is the foundation of knowledge from which all other learning flows.

To Educate:  Also essential is the education of the heart and imagination.  The Academy helps student form their personal view of the world, of nature, and of man in harmony with the finest of human and spiritual values.  In creating lovely objects, through listening to music and by reading fine books, students are led to appreciate the beautiful, the noble and the just.

To Form:  From parent to student and from teacher to student, the love for human values is passed through example.  Constant concern for justice, fidelity to one’s word, good manners and moderation in speech and personal responsibility for one’s actions are the goals of formation of character, where human person stands at the center of our endeavor.
